I’m a high school environmental science teacher. For years, I’ve been fascinated by the intricate worlds hidden beneath the surfaces of our lakes. To help my students visualize these complex ecosystems, I started creating short animated videos. The response from my students was so positive that I decided to organize my lessons into a structured course and share it with a wider audience.

That’s how Lake Academy was born.

This website is a simple home for the Lake Science 101 video series, a course designed to align with both the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the AP Environmental Science (APES) curriculum. My hope is that these resources will be helpful to other teachers, students, and anyone curious about the science of lakes.

This is a personal project, born out of a passion for teaching and a love for our natural world. I hope you find it useful.
